Letter: Obama refused to reward leaders of Russia, Turkey
Obama refused to reward
leaders of Russia, Turkey
Re: âObama made Russia an foe over human rightsâ (Eastbaytimes.com, July 19):
A letter explicitly criticized Obama for alienating potential allies in Putin and Erdogan. This criticism is unwarranted and dangerous.
Both Putin and Erdogan are incredibly dangerous authoritarians who are each responsible for extrajudicial killings in their respective countries.
Journalists, political opponents and outspoken citizens in both Russia and Turkey, have been found dead, with international organizations finding the governments responsible. These human rights abuses are nothing at which to bat an eye. They directly contradict everything the United States was supposed to stand for â" freedom, liberty, justice.
By refusing to reward these criminals, Obama was more American than Trump will ever be.
